Shawn Lewis, Sr. is a native Pennsylvanian who has enjoyed the game of basketball all of his life. As a member of the Harrisburg High School boys’ basketball team, he was a three year varsity player and earned Harrisburg’s “Patriot News” Big 15 honors as a senior.
When the sun set on his playing career, he began to focus on the development of young players. This thirst inspired him to begin coaching in programs he participated in as a youth. While earning a certificate to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association, Shawn began coaching middle school players before landing a position at the high school and ultimately resting as an assistant coach at Central Penn College.
Currently, Shawn occupies a diverse range of positions, such as Professional Basketball Skills Trainer, Clinician and College Basketball Coach. He is the Owner of Hard 2 Guard Sports Performance Training, Incorporated-a company that incorporates mentoring, both physically and spiritually; offers sports strength and conditioning training as well as teaching, promoting and reinforcing professional basketball skill development. Through Hard 2 Guard, Shawn is assured that his organization can use basketball as a conduit that will ultimately impact, empower and encourage young people. He has experience utilizing proven training techniques learned from NBA, NCAA and highest levels of high school teaching, as well as some of the top coaches in the business, most notably Legendary Coach, Destry Mangus. Shawn has trained players on all levels, from Youth, High School, College and Professional. He also conducts Basketball Camps & Clinics throughout the Mid Atlantic Region.
Shawn is confident that he has the ability to reach athletes from all walks of life.
When off the court, Shawn continues to contribute to his community through the Sent Empowerment Team (SET). As a Co-Founder of SET, Shawn and his team are dedicated to leading, mentoring and empowering young men in our city and beyond.
In addition to building a successful basketball training organization, with the help of friends, family and a strong team of coaches, Shawn recognizes that ultimately, God is the foundation of and for everything he does. As a husband and father of two, this principle is exercised in his life, daily.
